Introduction
His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Noor Ur Rahman Hazarvi is a distinguished researcher, hadith scholar, and expert in hadith sciences of the contemporary era, who has dedicated his scholarly life to the research and teaching of the Prophetic Hadith and its intricate sciences. He holds a prominent position in scholarly circles, particularly in the fields of Ilm al-Ilal (Science of Hidden Defects), Jarh wa Ta'dil (Criticism and Praise of Narrators), and Hadith Criticism due to his deep insight and research expertise.
Education
Dr. Noor Ur Rahman Hazarvi obtained his PhD and MPhil degrees in Hadith Sciences from the International Islamic University Islamabad with outstanding performance, achieving the highest grade (CGPA 4.0) and excellent percentages at both levels. He also earned an MA in Arabic from the same university and received a Gold Medal. Earlier, he proved his exceptional scholarly abilities by securing first position in the entire Pakistan in the Shahadat al-Alimiyyah from Wafaq al-Madaris al-Arabiyyah Pakistan.
Teaching Experience
His teaching experience is extensive and diverse. He has been associated with teaching Islamic sciences, history, and particularly Hadith sciences at various universities and educational institutions. He has served as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Chakwal and the University of Peshawar, and as an Assistant Professor (Adjunct Faculty) at Al-Kawthar University Karachi. Additionally, he served as a columnist for several years in the scholarly and intellectual magazine Wafaq al-Madaris.
Current Positions
Currently, he serves as the Head of the Specialization in Hadith Department at Jamia Al-Rashid Karachi and is also a member of the Specialization in Hadith Department at Jamia Haqqania Akora Khattak. He is also associated as the Coordinator of the MS (Islamic Studies – Hadith) program at Al-Ghazali University Karachi.
Areas of Expertise
Dr. Hazarvi's primary field is Hadith and its critical sciences. He possesses particular expertise in teaching the following disciplines: Ilm al-Ilal (Science of Hidden Defects), Ilm al-Jarh wa Ta'dil (Science of Narrator Criticism), Various topics of Ulum al-Hadith, Usul al-Fiqh al-Hanafi (with practical applications), Ilm al-Balagha (Rhetoric), Arabic Literature, Nahw and Sarf (Grammar and Morphology), Logic and other Islamic and Arabic sciences.
Research & Publications
His contribution in the field of research and authorship is also significant. Several scholarly books and research studies have been published, particularly containing in-depth research on the critical methodologies of Imam Muslim, Imam Bukhari, Imam al-Daraqutni, and early hadith scholars. His numerous research articles have been published in HEC-approved scholarly journals, discussing important topics such as Hadith Sciences, Mustalah al-Hadith, differences in chains and texts, and the relationship between Fiqh and Hadith.
Research Supervision
He is also actively playing a role in research guidance. He is currently supervising several research theses in the MS Islamic Studies program and has successfully supervised multiple research projects in Specialization in Hadith, introducing new researchers to research methodology in Hadith and Islamic sciences.
Language Proficiency
Linguistically, he has mastery over Arabic, Urdu, English, and Pashto languages. He has special expertise in Arabic oratory, scholarly writing, research guidance, and teaching Arabic to Arab students.
